Brian Powers
Founder & CEO
Brian Powers founded Powers Tech in 2023 to bring mission-grade cybersecurity to the businesses and communities of Hawaiʻi. His career spans DoD cyber operations, SIEM engineering, DevSecOps, and software development, giving him a view of security from the code all the way to the security operations center.
Before founding Powers Tech, Brian supported Department of Defense environments as a cyber intrusion analyst and cyber operations analyst, hunting threats, investigating incidents, and building detection capabilities for teams protecting critical systems. He served as the Elastic SIEM subject matter expert at Hawaiian Airlines, where he designed Kafka-integrated data pipelines and cut incident response times by 20%. He later built secure CI/CD pipelines under DoD RMF compliance requirements, and has consulted for the USMC on cybersecurity operations.
Brian holds CompTIA Security+, CySA+, and SecurityX (CASP+) certifications, along with ITIL 4 Foundation and Create, Deliver & Support. He earned his B.S. in Cybersecurity and Information Systems from Marist College.
At Powers Tech, Brian leads security assessments, penetration testing, and IT consulting. He brings to every engagement the same discipline he applied to protecting national defense systems, along with a deep commitment to the people and places of Hawaiʻi.
